Introduction

The Department of English was started in 1972 at Undergraduate Level with the aim to foster communication skills among rural and hilly students. The department strives for holistic development of the students through language skills in English. The Post Graduate programme was started in 1994 by taking into account the need of the rural students to excel their academic knowledge in English Language and Literature. The department believes in inculcating the skills among the rural students to cope up with the global challenges. The participative learning of the students is a priority to aware them about the cross cutting issues from linguistics and literature. We focus on enriching competence of the students to achieve their desirable goals.

The Department of English acquaints students about English Language Skills and English Literature; thereby inculcate human values, Professional Ethics and Soft Skills to cope up with the global needs
